Have you ever made a mistake that was so perfectly on cue that you never really regretted making it? If you answered 'No', try making your own film and you just might! A lot of planning and forecasting goes into the production of movies, right from the first shot to the final cut. The depth and breadth of things that could go wrong between these two points is immense. Despite this, some movies avoided total on-set implosion and actually ended up with spectacular results. The most popular example of this is Robin Williams' unforgettable cake icing gag from Mrs. Doubtfire. Williams smothered his face with cream when Daniel's true identity was at the risk of exposure in the film. When the heat from the set's lights actually started to melt the cream off his face, Robin did as most actors of his skill and stature do: he carried on with the scene. A tiny blunder that no one saw coming could have potentially called for a tedious retake but Willaims turned it into the iconic scene that became a permanent fixture in the realm of comedy.
How do you think some other movie mistakes were handled? The ones that have made it onto our list here clearly coped very well. These films encapsulate a lesson for all of us by testifying to the fact that not all mistakes are irrevocable, that some are actually amendable and that sometimes, it is just best to run with a goof up and carry on.
