In this day and age, superhero films have become the most consistent, go-to form of cinematic entertainment. Thanks to Marvel Studios, the genre’s quality is almost one-hundred percent guaranteed. However, there was a period of time when things were less certain, when a new superhero movie was less likely to be enjoyable and more likely to be just plain dumb. But even in the worst of the worst superhero movies, there are glimmers of hope to be found.

Perhaps no one would call Marc Webb’s ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ films the best of the bunch, but there’s a strong argument to be made that ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ is the worst. But as bad as it is, it contains one standout sequence which features the demise of Gwen Stacy. This is far more effective than anything else in the film. Or what about the scene in ‘Superman III’ where evil Superman ends up having a fight with his good version.

Even films like ‘Batman Forever’ have decent moments, such as the scene in which Bruce Wayne shares his origin with Dr. Chase Meridian. Or the aerial battle in ‘Spider-Man 3’ where Peter Parker takes on the New Goblin. And what about the Human Torch chasing after the Silver Surfer in the otherwise dismal ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer’?
