The Simpsons is one of those shows that prides itself on its pop culture references. Sometimes, it’s quick, blink and you’ll miss it moment, sometimes a recreation. Sometimes, like the ten featured on this list, the show gives us direct parodies of some of the best movies ever made.

Usually, these are shot for shot remakes or reimaginings. The way the camera and action take place will be instantly recognizable to anyone who has seen any of these movies. Sometimes, they only last a few minutes, such as when Homer Simpson chases Ned Flanders and family in their car in a scene that’s straight out of Terminator 2: Judgement Day. There are plenty of references to the Godfather and we showcase a few in this particular entry as it’s considered to be one of the greatest movies ever made. Tarantino and Scorsese were both at the Oscars in 2020 so of course, we had to put them on this list with the parodies of Cape Fear and Pulp Fiction.

There’s a new James Bond around the corner as well, which is a perfect reason to show off the Goldfinger spoof in “You Only Move Twice”. Sometimes, entire chunks of the Halloween Specials are dedicated to one particular movie. This is true of The Shining as well as, ironically, 2001: A Space Odyssey. Both films are done by Stanley Kubrick. A Space Odyssey was also featured when Homer went to space. Speaking of Halloween Specials, the Dracula bit was spot on. Boyhood is a more recent parody, and we know the later seasons aren’t as beloved or acclaimed, but we had to put Barthood on the stand.
