15 Actors Who Were Unrecognizable In A Role Transformation

Welp, it’s a day of the week, so let’s talk about actors who did as actors do and transformed themselves for a role, to the point where we don’t even recognize them. Whether it’s Colin Farrell in the brief glimpses we’ve gotten of him in The Batman in his portrayal of Oswald Cobblepot, aka the Penguin, or the more famous ones like Christian Bale in Vice or Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight, or Robert De Niro in Raging Bull… man, is it just something about being Batman and Batman-adjacent movies that gets the transformation bug goin’ in these guys? We’re not even going to mention Danny DeVito as the Penguin in Batman Returns on this list, since we have another Penguin already, but dang… it’s just endless! In non Batman related Stanley Tucci, Janette Goldstein, Matthew Fox, Idris Elba, Marion Cotillard… wait, no, that last one is also a Batman actor. Jeez. Usually for these video descriptions we just recount the plot, but in this one I’m having a fit over all the ways major acting transformations can be connected to Bruce Wayne.

Er, anyway: from Charlize Theron in Monster to Ben Kingsley in Gandhi, there are so many amazing transformations to choose from, and we’ve selected just fifteen to consider. Well, a little more than that — we did cheat and add two for Pennywise, and the last entry… man, it’s just a movie filled to the brim with transformations.
