With Rick and Morty’s sixth season making its return, we’ve been doing what any other fan would be doing in the month-long wait, dissecting the entire series for things we didn’t catch the last eighteen times we rewatched it! We’ll be taking a look at nods to other animated shows like Gravity Falls, taking another look at the hidden meanings of the post-credits vanity cards, and pointing out a surprise appearance of the best character on the show, Abradolf Lincler. Along with references to Gravity Falls, this show naturally had a bunch of nods to Dan Harmond’s other show, Community! Historic references are also abound, from nazi snakes to new species of DInosaurs. That’s right, the show taught us a new species of dinosaur, and it’s named after Hogwarts from Harry Potter! Who says cartoons can’t be educational? And what would Rick and Morty be without movie references? Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was subtly homage along with Weekend at Bernie’s of all things. Man, the writers on this show have a broad spectrum of interests! And the writers certainly love their TV too, there’s nods to Breaking Bad and even Modern Family that eagle-eyed fans are just now noticing after eight years of this show! Wow, eight years. God, we’re getting old fast. For the literature fans, there’s also been a fair number of Stephen King references over the years, and you might find one towards the end of this video!
