Fans of Pete Davidson probably know that his father perished while working as a firefighter on 9/11. But it can be hard to know where the fiction of The King of Staten Island begins and where the truth ends! We’ll talk about which parts were authentic, and which were fictionalized for the sake of the film. Here’s a hint: that’s his real grandfather Stephen in one of the scenes! Was the Hulk hands battle an Easter egg or a hidden reference to something that actually happened? Plus, you may not have realized that the character Scott’s sister was played by none other than Maude Apatow, who’s the daughter of director Judd Apatow. We’ll talk about which meaningful movie moment was improvised, and how Bill Burr got that air when dunking his someday stepson in the pool. Plus, Marisa Tomei portrayed his mom in the movie, but his actual mother did make a cameo in one specific scene! There’s some great music in the film, but one song was just so meaningful they simply couldn’t leave it out.
