While some Hollywood stars are content to make their living playing roles that audiences love to see them in, some just can’t be satisfied by being put into a box. Instead, they do everything in their power to push the envelope, and push themselves, until they can’t be pinned down as just one thing. These actors have set out to reinvent themselves, and sometimes, not just once or twice. Some of them were child stars who didn’t want to get locked into a certain kind of type casting, like Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, who broke out of their Twilight boxes in order to establish themselves as multi-faceted actors who can do so much more than what made them famous. Others were comedians who knew they had more in them, so they pushed back and broke out as movie stars, like Chris Pratt and Jonah Hill. Others came from a more troubled background, and took a long time to shed their images as troublemakers, like Robert Downey Jr and Angelina Jolie. And then there are the stars who set out to prove that they could do it all. Matthew McConahey broke out from a string of romantic comedies in order to transform into his Oscar winning self, and Bradley Cooper had to prove that he could play more than just the antagonistic jerk! Keanu Reeves reinvented his good guy image in order to play John Wick, and Lady Gaga went from pop star to stripped down actress for A Star Is Born!
