Anime Movies That Were Ripped Off By Hollywood

We all love anime here. Oh wait, we don’t? Why not? Anime is awesome! And even if you think you aren’t a fan of the genre, trust me. You probably are. Don’t believe me? Well, just wait until you see today’s video all about how some of your favorite movies of all time have a striking resemblance to certain anime. Some are just outright copycats! Did these popular films know they were ripping off anime or was it all just one big coincidence? That’s what we’re here today to discuss!

Because I would bet there’s a few famous movies on here that you didn’t know Hollywood copied from anime. One of the most infamous examples of all time is the whole The Lion King and Kimba the White Lion debacle. Disney claims they had no idea about Kimba, but looking at the artwork and the story beats, it’s hard to deny the truth. Other filmmakers are much more forthcoming. For example the Wachowski’s loved Ghost in the Shell and when they were pitching the sci fi classic The Matrix, they used Ghost in the Shell as a major reference point. Other big films like Inception, Black Swan, Avatar and so many others all have an anime foundation. That’s pretty wild right?
