Description

The saga of Albuquerque, New Mexico’s most notorious meth kingpin has finally come to a close after five seasons of the ground breaking show Breaking Band and the prequel/sequel series Better Call Saul that follows the origins of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman’s fast talking slick lawyer. In the process we got to see the origins of characters like Nacho, Hector Salamanca, Gus Fring, and who that Lalo character was that Saul was so afraid of when he first met Walter and Jesse. While Saul may have started out as shady, we found out that he’s also been living in the shadow of his well respected brother and spent at least some time trying to become respectable. But his past was hard for him to overcome, especially with his judgemental brother and for his own impulse to create grudges and react to slights people didn’t even know they were making. In a surprise twist, the guy with the most punchable face in the series, Howard Hamlin, is the one person willing to treat Jimmy as a peer and been on his side the entire time. So of course Saul and his best gal Kim Wexler destroyed the man and put him in the path of Lalo Salamanca. Wexler had the respect that Jimmy wanted but not as much as she deserved so when Jimmy starts to bring out her dark side they become scourges until they get too intertwined in the southwestern meth trade and the cartels that run it. Just like Breaking Bad was a study in how someone goes from respectable to drug lord, Better Call Saul examines what happens when someone’s bid for redemption doesn’t take.
