When Marvel made a deal with Netflix to have the streaming service create a series of shows based on some of the publisher’s characters, it was a breath of fresh air for the MCU. Unlike the more family-friendly installments that were released into theaters, Netflix was able to tell Marvel’s darker stories without having to worry so much about appealing to kids.

Netflix kicked off its Marvel series with Daredevil, a show that became both a critical and commercial success for the streamer. Five more shows followed, and along with several of the heroes that made up Marvel’s Defenders roster, Netflix also brought to life some of the greatest — and not so great — Marvel villains.
