After the retirement of Steve Rogers from the superhero life, Sam has been given the iconic shield and his old partner’s blessing to take up the mantle and carry on his legacy… but he hesitates to do so, feeling that no one deserves to fill the Captain’s shoes. Bucky, meanwhile, is struggling to fit back into the regular world after spending decades as a Hydra sleeper agent called Winter Soldier, and is trying to clean up his messes in his own, clearly self-destructive way. And in the midst of all of us, not only is a terrorist group called the Flag-Smashers, bent on destroying all national borders on the rise, but the government shows itself to have the gall to simply hand Steve’s shield to a new, state-appointed Captain America.

And yet, in the midst of all of these plot threads, the MCU still has time to fill every nook and cranny of its airtime with easter eggs and references to the wider Marvel Universe.

We’re past the halfway point now, and the show has officially stopped pulling punches. Serving us one of the MCUs darkest and most personally devastating moments to our cast of heroes to date, Episode 4 is sure to be one that will get everyone talking… but let’s not forget that John has a bit of a violent history in the comics too. So we’re going to take a moment to explore the darker side of the possibly soon-to-be USAgent.
