HBO’s dark comedy about a hitman aspiring to be an actor is all set to return after a three year absence and it’s set to build on the spiraling darkness that has made the first two seasons such a big hit. Barry is separated from Fuches, NoHo Hank is once again down personnel after getting in the way of Barry’s attempt to retire, and Barry is starting to become less convinced that he’ll be able to leave it all behind. The hit HBO show is the product of both the active imaginations of its creators and their razor wit but also of a carefully constructed narrative with everyone dealing on some level with their own versions of a double life. Before the third season starts shooting up the place let's take the opportunity to look back at the last two seasons and what they can tell us about what is coming down for our reluctant villain. From Lilly the feral karate girl whose character was built around the 11 year old stunt performer who so effectively brought the character to life to one of the grimmest writers of tv being a little freaked out by how grim the comedy can get. What was NoHo Hank’s original fate? How did Bill Hader connect his own experience to the extreme experience of portraying a hitman? What’s your favorite part of the series?
