Once again, Disney is going back to the well, tapping its Golden Age of classic animated features for inspiration. Having brought us real-life remakes of Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Lady and the Tramp and soon The Little Mermaid and Lilo and Stitch, the House of Mouse now sets its sights on a tale of a Greek hero, the son of Zeus and Hera and enemy of Hades, lover of Megara, inheritor of Mount Olympus, and guy generally commented on at length and in style by magical Muses. He’s gonna go the distance. He won’t say he’s in love. He’s not the Genie, or Jason and the Argonauts, or the goat from Emperor’s New Groove.

This latest franchise sequel / prequel / do-over / adaptation will be helmed by Joe Russo and his brother Anthony, who you may recall from certain Marvel properties including Avengers Endgame and Infinity War, as well as recent movies like Cherry. They’ve also got a Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings script writer on board!
