MCU: Dark Avengers Explained

It’s getting dark in the MCU these days. Honestly, I can’t tell anymore. Is Loki a good guy or a bad guy? Seriously I’m starting to lose track of who is a hero in the MCU. I could always count on Captain America and then he takes a guy’s head off? Does White Vision have good vision? Now Abomination is back? And what's up with this new Black Widow? Dark Avengers. They’re doing Dark Avengers. Lemme just look in my comic book here and yup it’s for sure the Dark Avengers. We already have Madame Hydra acting as the MCU’s Nick Fury. Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine as played by Julia Louis Dreyfus may be working alongside a higher power that becomes an overall boss level baddie as we move into Secret Invasion and beyond. They have their own Hulk in the recently released images of The Abomination in the Shang-Chi trailer and Thunderbolt Ross has been sitting there trying to get control of these superbeings since Captain America Civil War.

Following the events of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier it was pretty clear that John Walker’s Captain America was not exactly cut from the same flag as Steve Rogers. I mean if we’re honest about Steve he’s delivered a lot of hits you don’t exactly bounce back from but he always seemed to manage to keep the shield clean at least. In the comics the Black Widows, being the spies they are, infiltrated the Dark Avengers before Yelena Belova figured out right from wrong and switched sides from the Dark to, I guess the Bright Avengers? Comicbook Gargon becomes a fake Spider-Man and with Spider-Man already in hot water at the end of Far From Home and an entire Spider-verse then… yup that's easy to do too. Guys, they’ve thought of Dark everything.
