Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow took the world by storm in the early 2000s and Disney had a cash cow on their hands. More than a decade and a half later, they were still trying to cash in on their swashbuckling pirate adventure franchise. The fifth movie of the Pirates of the Caribbean came out, and with the longest title in the world, it was called Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales definitely raises some questions. Like did we really need origin stories for Jack’s hair beads? Why did Salazar make a big deal about “dead men tell no tales” only to tell a long tale later in the movie? Why are their so many random magical items they need to track down? How did Jack have the Black Pearl in a glass bottle on him during all those stunts without crushing it? Why didn’t Elizabeth join on this adventure? How is Will even still alive without the curse that was keeping him alive?

To answer all these questions and more, step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales! It’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.
