He Wasn’t Always The Winter Soldier!

From his first appearance in Captain America: The First Avenger, Sebastian Stan has brought the character of James Buchanan Barnes - better known as Steve Rogers’ best friend Bucky - to life. Even with limited screen time, he made an emotional impact. And his MCU journey - through Captain America: The Winter Soldier / Civil War, Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War and most recently his adventures in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+ - has been a fascinating one.

In fact, we’d say that Bucky’s arc is one aspect of Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity that really shines on a rewatch - and much of that is down to Stan’s conflicted performance as the WWII veteran turned Soviet assassin turned freedom fighter.

So yeah! Sebastian Stan has been great in the MCU. And we have no doubt that he will be great in the forthcoming biographical mini-series Pam and Tommy on Hulu. Like, have you seen the publicity stills? He and Lily James are the spitting image of those guys!

But has it ever occurred to you that Stan has had a career before - and adjacent to - the MCU? That he has in fact been appearing on TV and in movies since the 90s?
