Shrek Timeline Explained

If you're watching this video, odds are you probably love Shrek. Or you fell asleep with YouTube autoplaying. Either way, the big green ogre is a beloved cinematic icon. And since Shrek is life, I figured why not take a look at the entire Shrek timeline, from beginning to end. Bet you didn’t know you needed this in your life, but here we are!

You probably think that the first entry in a timeline of Shrek films, would naturally be the first Shrek movie. Well, in a surprise to basically everyone, the earliest piece of media chronologically is actually a television show that ran for six seasons from 2015 till 2018 entitled the Adventures of Puss in Boots.

After this on the timeline, was…once again not Shrek but actually more Puss in Boots, as the first spin off film, Puss in Boots slots in here.

Then from there you get the Shrek films, along with a bunch of spin-off shorts, and even a ride at Universal Studios (yes, that is technically canon to the series! Crazy right?)

All of it wraps up with the latest film in the franchise, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, which saw Puss in Boots on the final one of his nine lives. At one point, even facing down death himself in the guise of a wolf in a cloak…
