The Marvel Cinematic Universe is full of amazing films and one of the best adaptations from Marvel comics is the one that adapts Peter Parker with Tom Holland in the main role. The movies change from the first two franchises in the Sony-led series by basing the tone off of classic high school movies like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Sixteen Candles. It showed Peter in a science-focused school that featured a ton of characters from Stan Lee’s golden series.

This movie has a ton of references in it. Many of them are obvious including references to classic comic covers, classic characters and previous movies. Then they snuck in some hidden easter eggs like comic issue numbers in license plates, famous characters like Silk, or even incredible references to the MCU that should come back later. It also featured actors who were references to other actors who previously appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Perhaps my favorite reference in the film had to do with the Birdman star Michael Keaton’s most famous feature, Batman. Here’s to hoping he references his character Vulture when he returns as Bruce Wayne in The Flash in 2022. There’s no way that they will top this in the third film in the series later in 2021 even if Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus is back on the way.
