The Star Wars Canon is a fascinating concept. In short, the films, comics, shows and books all have the same weight on the story, meaning that if something major happens in a comicbook, it’s as important as if it were to have happened on the big screen. Well, something big recently just happened in the Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith comic by Charles Soule and it involves Kylo Ren. Despite the comic taking place between Episodes III and IV, the writer has made clear connections between Vader and his grandson, Kylo Ren. Even more interestingly though are the words Vader hears as he passes through the veil of the Force on Mustafar. In a giant red box, Soule put in the line “let the past die, kill it if you have to”. That passage will be instantly familiar to anyone who has seen The Last Jedi, as it’s arguably the most iconic line from the film and it’s a line that Kylo Ren speaks. Unlike other classic lines, such as “it’s a trap”, this line is way to specific to just be an easter egg. So we dove in deeper to underwrap the implications of having this line in the comic and how it can effect Kylo Ren. Thanks to information established earlier on in the same comic book and scenes from The Force Awakens, it seems very possible that Darth Vader himself may have been in contact with his grandson from beyond the grave. How is this possible? You’ll just have to watch to find out!
