The Avengers Cast Almost Looked Way Different

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has stayed generally consistent with it’s casting. Once an actor is hired, they are locked into a multi picture deal and turned into an overnight sensation. The MCU has spanned over twenty films at this point and most of the heroes have returned multiple times. Take Sebastian Stan for example; while he originally was auditioning for the role of Captain America, he instead got offered the role of James Buchanan Barnes which has in turn granted him various appearances in The Winter Soldier, Civil War, Infinity War, Endgame- and even his own Disney+ series with Falcon and The Winter Soldier!

It’s become really difficult to even try and envision any other actors portraying the Avengers, of course that is with the exception of Edward Norton and Cuba Gooding Jr. That’s quite easy to imagine, although we’d all probably rather forget those.

With hundreds of thousands of potential actors out there, and some pretty massive budgets to these films- the casting process brings in some serious A - List names to try and see how they would portray our favorite heroes on the big screen. For every Tom Holland cast as Spider-Man is a Timothee Chalamet solemnly waiting by a window desperately waiting for the call after several auditions and screen tests.

Whether it be because the producers were insisting on another candidate, an actor having scheduling conflicts, or due to contract negotiations- there are plenty of reasons why these prospective actors didn’t end up being cast in some of the biggest films to date.
