Billy Butcher is a guy who is synonymous with the dark and edgy vibe of The Boys. The Amazon Original which was adapted from the eponymous comic books of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson has been appreciated as a bold venture. It features a gripping premise which takes a cynical glance at the lionization of superheroes. Like most famous things at their peak, The Boys has its superheroes take the plunge into corporate brazenness to give us a narrative that is all too familiar, yet ghastly: when they're not curbing crimes (which they seem to do little of anyway), we have superheroes who are omnipresent on billboards and cereal boxes; the military is at risk of being privatised and the very protectors of humanity have been reduced to branded caricatures. In this universe and context, The Boys presents us with its version of the anti-hero: Billy Butcher. Karl Urban of the Star Trek and Thor Ragnarok fame brings us an uncanny live-action rendition of Butcher while dishing out meme-worthy nihilism through the show. This video takes a look at the character's comic book origins and his role in the web series ahead of the second season. How will the new season pick up after the massive cliffhanger that the first season left us with? What will become of Billy and Becca? Will Billy continue to work in the same way as a superhero vigilante in light of the show's newest developments?
