The Boys will be coming back to Amazon Prime Video this September and we're super excited about that. The sometimes funny, sometimes intense first season was a hit with fans as it offered up an interesting look at what life could be life if the superheroes we know were actually real. Corporations would totally be in on that and things like public opinion and social media polls would play an important role in their image. But a hero is only as cool as their powers, which is why The Deep, a parody of sorts on Aquaman, isn’t so cool. But Homelander is.

He’s the leader of The Seven, which totally isn’t The Justice League but kind of is. And if he’s the leader, then he’s their de facto Superman. Homelander and the Man of Steel have a lot of similarities when it comes to their powers and that’s totally intentional. But it’s how they use their respective superpowers that separate them from benevolent heroes to malevolent tyrants.

Both characters share all the same powers, from being able to fly and run at superhuman speeds, having ridiculous strength, heat vision, x ray vision, invulnerability and a heightened stamina. But Homelander has used his powers for his own agenda more than once and the consequences have been dire and gross. When he’s thinking of himself or of Vought and not the people, Homelander is our worst fear of Superman. Plus, unlike Superman, there’s no Kryptonite to stop him. Instead, it’s up to a bunch of normies led by Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher called The Boys to try and put Supes in their place.
