Ever since the dawn of the horror movie, there have been sequels. Every Mummy, Frankenstein, Wolfman and Creature returned to the screen multiple times to seek their revenge. And why not? Horror sequels are usually a money-making machine with a built-in audience. Even when they flop, they usually do pretty well.

That is, until they don't. Numerous horror franchise sequels are proposed, planned, and even scripted before entire projects are scrapped for something else, or just axed entirely. When horror movies make so much money with minimal risk, why not? What's the real reason these horror sequels never happened?
