The Suicide Squad: Every New Character Explained

After a long wait, Task Force X is finally headed back to the big screen. This time the team is being brought to life by James Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy. Characters from the last movie like Harley Quinn, Amanda Waller, Captain Boomerang and Randall Flagg will be suiting up one more time to drop into Corto Maltese to complete another dangerous mission against unspeakable odds. This time they are joined by two full teams of new characters who are getting exploding chips inserted into their brains.

For starters, Will Smith’s Deadshot is getting replaced as the team’s leader and voice of reason. This time we have the one and only Idris Elba suiting up as the Superman shooting villain Bloodsport. He’ll be joined by the likes of Pete Davidson’s Blackguard, Peter Capaldi’s Thinker, Sean Gunn’s Weasel and Nathan Fillion’s mysterious T.D.K. Each of these characters is a complicated, obscure character from DC’s long history. For instance, Polka-Dot Man is one of the earliest and most ridiculous of Batman’s illustrious rogue’s gallery. Starro the Conqueror was actually the first ever villain that the Justice League of America ever fought. Then there’s King Shark who has been adapted by The Flash, Harley Quinn and Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, each time with a completely different personality. So we’ll see if Sylvester Stalone’s take on the character is the weirdest yet.
