There Are Only 31 Near-Perfect Games, According To Metacritic

Can any piece of art truly be perfect? Just about any video game you could name has its flaws, as well as its detractors. But there are a select few games, on an array of platforms and in many genres, that have approached a perfect reception. And while not all of them have aged as well as others, their reputation precedes them.

How can one find these beloved, lauded games? Metacritic keeps an archive of reviews dating back to the 1990s, and scores each game in its archive based on "a weighted average of reviews from top critics and publications." These games — some from the franchises you might expect, others perhaps a bit surprising — achieved a Metascore of 96 or higher.

So, by Metacritic's standards, these are the 31 near-perfect video games.
