Description

It’s been almost a year since Top Gun Maverick took the series to new heights, and took the audience on one of the wildest rides in recent times. This sequel brings back so many nostalgic characters, actors, and themes from the original movie while blazing its own trail through the stratosphere. Tom Cruise brought his adrenaline junky energy to this movie and put everyone on a 3-month training regiment so they could actually pull off all of the death-defying aerial feats in the actual F-18 cockpits. Except for Val Kilmer, but Tom managed to integrate him into the film in an organic way that paid excellent homage to his character, Iceman. He’s honestly got more depth than he did in the original! In fact, the cast on the whole in Top Gun: Maverick is deeper and more diverse than the original cast, and they give the movie a welcome texture. This sequel manages to weave these new and older characters into a story that manages to have so much more emotional weight than the original film. From Rooster’s introduction as Goose’s son, we can see that Maverick’s time as an instructor is gonna be a tough one. And that’s before the internal drama kicks in. But even after the team starts acting like a team, they still have to pull off one of the most death-defying feats imaginable, but Maverick is able to show them the way.
