What’s your favorite video game franchise? I know, that’s a tough question. There’s a lot to choose from and picking just one seems like an impossible task. But that just goes to show how much we love certain video game franchises, through good times and bad. Because let’s face it. Releasing hit after hit and keeping the momentum going in any franchise is almost an impossible task. There’s always going to be some stumbles here and there. That’s especially true for video game franchises. Sometimes, even the greatest series can have a stumble or two before it gets back on track. But which video games were responsible for reviving and saving their respective franchises? Well, that’s what we’re here today to discuss!

You might be surprised to hear that some of the most popular gaming franchises right now almost never happened. Look at the Call of Duty franchise, which was just seen as an inferior version of Medal of Honor until Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare completely changed the game. Now the yearly Call of Duty release is consistently in the highest-selling games of the year. Look at Fallout 3, which is heralded as one of the greatest games from the 2000’s, but almost never saw the light of day after 10 years in development limbo. Look at franchises like God of War, Tomb Raider or Wolfenstein, which delivered sequels that switched things up and breathed new life into their respective series. It’s crazy how much this happens!
