The Witcher Timelines Weren't The Only Confusing Part Of The Netflix Show

Netflix has a smash hit on their hands with the help of The Witcher, their big-budget fantasy epic based on a series of internationally bestselling novels. The series was initially met with mixed critical reception but has since gone on to become one of Netflix’s most popular shows. Despite this, the show can be a little confusing to some, especially those who are unfamiliar with the books or even the video games.

There are a lot of passing comments and references that do not get explained in the show that audiences are either expected to look upon their own or to accept whatever is being told to them on screen. Henry Cavill, who plays the titular Witcher, actually does all of his own stunts and stand-ins on the show, something very uncommon in Hollywood these days.

There are a lot of changes and variations when compared to the books. Certain character motivations get changed, such as Renfri’s plan in the market, which kickstarts an amazing action scene. Creatures, such as dopplers, are different in the show and character origins, such as Yennefer’s, are completely new additions. Ciri, the child of destiny, is much more important to the overall narrative but the show only hints at certain narrative beats. Despite all the confusion and subtly in the show, at least fans of The Witcher 3 got their beloved bathtub scene in the show, meaning the meme is now available in live-action.
