Was Howard really fit enough to be an astronaut? If Sheldon cannot understand sarcasm, how does he so frequently use it? And did he not see the striking image of his late father in Leonard’s childhood bully Jimmy Speckerman?

Questions like these inadvertently occur to the discerning, TV devouring mind. They say your ardence as a true fan reflects in the number of plot holes you discovered in a series and how many convoluted storylines you survived. And sometimes, sheer accuracy falls through when the creators put in an intentional mistake.

Movie mistakes have numerous roots. In historical depictions and period dramas, for instance, props serve as cultural markers. It would therefore be just as jarring to see the wrong model of a Volkswagen in the eighties as TV Aerials in the early twentieth century. But other goof ups like The Simpsons foreshadowing its own character arrivals are simply enjoyable at best and silly, at worst. It’s also probably a little far fetched to expect absolute correctness-history wise or source material wise- from a standard eight-hour TV series. Creators are, after all, allowed a certain amount of creative liberty. And when that runs out, there’s always the good old suspension of disbelief to lean on. Did you ever stop to question why cars burst into flames when fired with one gunshot?

Step into this video to discover more of these examples of iconic, long-running TV shows that have glaring continuity mistakes, errors, bloopers, plot holes and anachronisms.
