Despite having a relatively long runtime of two and a half hours which included the origins of The Cheetah and Max Lord as well as the return of Steve Trevor, ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ still struggled to fit every plot detail into the narrative. Namely the origin of the movie’s MacGuffin- The Dream Stone. The Dream Stone is one of the most sought after objects throughout the movie with it being able to grant the wishes of whoever touches it and this is how Diana is able to bring Steve back from the dead. But, it comes at a devastating price, with the cost of granting a wish often heavier than the benefits- which the world soon finds out. We learn though that the Dreamstone is by no means a new object and was an artefact that was handed down from generation to generation and was also the cause of many civilizations to fall. While the plot never goes into full detail as to its origins we do hear one name linked to its creation- The God of Lies. “But who exactly is The God of Lies?” I hear you ask. Let’s discuss shall we?

We will dive into the origins of this character, their real identity in the DC world, and how Wonder Woman 1984 actually changed canon while referencing this character. We will also debate whether or not we will see the God of Lies moving forward, and who could potentially play this deity of deceit.
